Upcoming Movie News

ANOTHER FRIDAY THE 13TH SEQUEL:
New Line and Platinum Dunes will be working with Damian Shannon and Mark Swift on a sequel to the recently released Friday The 13th movie. The film is expected to be released by mid-year in 2010. The recent film earned 70 million dollars worldwide thus far. No word yet on whether Jared Padalecki would reprise his role as Clay. In some interviews Jared states that he never had any intention of playing the hero on Friday the 13th but is open to the possibility of reprising the role should the storyline be interesting enough.

Wolverine Sequel is in the works after the successful opening week. The sequel will focus on the samurai storyline featured in the comic series

Also a spin off movie is in the works for the character Dead Pool played by Ryan Reynolds.

The Sex And The City sequel will be released in theaters on May 28, 2010. Filming will begin on the 2nd movie in the summer of 2009. The story line is expected to take the girls into a brand new direction possibly more tragic.

Terminator 5 is scheduled to be released sometime in 2011. John Connor will travel back in time to prepare the world for the Skynet invasion. Skynet has found a way to send more than one Terminator at a time and not just Terminators. Expect to see harvesters and other vehicles from the future arrive in present day time. An added surprise will be that John Connor will meet a scientist played by Robert Patrick (the T-1000 from T2)

Lionsgate has begun shooting Saw 6

Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios have announced that "Spider-Man 4" will be released on May 6, 2011. Tobey Maguire will reprise his role. Producer Sam Raimi is expected to film part 4 and 5 back to back to save production money.

RESIDENT EVIL 4 IN THE WORKS
Rumors are circling that Jensen Ackles is being considered for the role of Leon in the new movie but nothing has been officially announced or confirmed. Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalekci also stated at the Supernatural Convention in LA on March 2009 that they currently had no other film plans other than Supernatural and that they'd be taking the summer off to relax.

Although the original producer had no intention of continuing the franchise, a new producer has stepped up to continue the Resident Evil movie. The latest movie will be filmed in Canada which will sub as Alaska for the scenes with Claire Redfield and her group of human survivors. The film will also shoot in Tokyo where Alice and her army of clones will hunt down the Umbrella Corporation. There is no scheduled release date as of yet.

Piranha 3-D
Christopher Lloyd has been added to the cast of Alex Aja’s "Piranha 3D". He’ll star as Goodman, an expert on piranha.

Gossip Girl Jessica Szohr will star in the remake of Pinraha 3-D. She plays Kelly. Also starring are Elisabeth Shue, Ving Rhames, Adam Scott and Richard Dreyfuss. Piranha 3D is due in theaters March 2010 and will begin shooting in Arizona this month (May)

NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET REBOOT CAST

Rooney Mara signed up to play Nancy Thompson.

Thomas Dekker (known for his role as John Connor on TSCC) has been cast as Jesse on the new Nightmare on Elm Street reboot.

Kyle Gallner is the second actor to sign on for the reboot of the new Nightmare on Elm Street film. He will play Quentin. Gallner will be the male lead actor in the film aside from Jackie Earl Haley of course who will play Freddy.

Jackie Earle Haley has been cast as Freddy Krueger in the latest remake of Nightmare on Elm Street. The movie is expected to be released later this year.

H2 The Devil Walks is a sequel to the 2007 Rob Zombie remake of the classic Halloween. Tyler Mane reprises his role as Michael Myers. The movie will continue right where the last one left off. Margot Kidder and Malcolm McDowell also star. The movie will be released on August 28th, 2009.

FINAL DESTINATION DEATH TRIP 3D will be out in theaters on August 28th (at the same time as H2 ) and will follow in the footsteps of My Bloody Valentine 3D and actually be 3D.

The Hills Have Eyes 3 is in the works. More to come as soon as we get more info.

Don't expect to see a sequel for The Dark Knight. Sources tell me that it may take at least three years before we see Batman on the screen again.

VENOM MOVIE - Hollywood producers are in the early processes of creating a script for the movie Venom. For those non-Spiderman fans, that's that oil slick alien that took over Peter Parker in Spiderman 3 and then later moved on to a new host.

SUPERMAN SEQUEL SCRAPPED: Mark Millar has scrapped the 8 hour (3 movie) Superman project at least for now. No word yet on whether Bryan Singer (the producer of Superman Returns) will go ahead and do his sequel.

TV News

Vampire Diaries on the CW - Ian Somerhalder (Lost season 1's Boone) plays Damon, a cocky vampire who can go from playful to evil in a second. Zach Roerig plays the jock Matt and Kayla Ewell plays Matt's sister. Vampire Diaries is based on a book series about a woman who falls for two vampire brothers, one is good and the other is evil.

V The series, a revamped adaption of the original 80's series will broadcast on ABC. Morris Chestnut, Elizabeth Mitchell, Lourdes Benedicto, Alan Tudyk (who donned many monster masks on shows like Buffy as a Turok-Han) will play an FBI agent and Laura Vandervoort (formerly Kara/Supergirl on Smallville will play an alien seductress named Lisa.

Laura Leighton joins the cast of the CW's Melrose Place. Her character Sydney Andrews was thought to have been killed in the original series in a car accident but it now looks like she survived. Joining Laura Leighton is Katie Cassidy as Ella, Jessica Lucas as Riley, Ashlee Simpson-Wentz as Violent, Michael Rady as Jonah, Colin Egglesfield as Auggie, Shaun Sipos as David and Stephanie Jacobsen as Lauren. Heather Locklear has refused to join the series at least for the time being.

Leverage has been renewed for a 15th episode second season. Catch up on old episodes on the TNT website.

TRUE BLOOD Season 2: Evan Rachel Wood will play Sophie-Anne, the 500 year old vampire Queen of Louisiana. The 2 episodes will air toward the end of the season. Season 2 returns June 14th and will follow Charlaine Harri's Sookie Stackhouse series, Living Dead in Dallas.

The Sixth and final season which will contain 19 episodes will begin airing in 2010.

Dustin Milligan will not be a series regular in season two. However the storyline will be left open so that Dustin can return as a guest star to resolve his character's storyline.

Matt Lanter who plays recurring character Liam will be a series regular in season two.

Don't expect to see a whole lot of the old cast on 90210 next season. There's talk that the producers want to pull away from using the original cast so that the audience can focus more on the teens (played by 20+ actors).

24 Season 8: Jack Bauer and Chloe will be working for CTU based in NY. A brand new character named Brian Hasting will lead the resurrected CTU. Annie Wersching returns as Renee Walker. Season 8 begins production in May and will feature heavily once again on the middle east. Anil Kapoor joins the cast.

Ali Larter's Tracy will continue to go on a murderous rampage in season 4 and Zachary Quinto will return but you already knew that.

Chad Michael Murray and Hilarie Burton will not return to One Tree Hill for season seven. Two new characters are said to be introduced next season to replace the departure of Murray and Burton.

Austin Nichols who plays Julian on One Tree Hill has been bumped to a series regular next season to make up for Chad Michael Murray who leaves the series this season. The identity of the other cast member is unknown.

SUPERNATURAL HAS BEEN RENEWED FOR A FIFTH SEASON.

Word came in through TV Guide online that the CW officially announced it was renewing the series for a fifth season.

FRIDAY THE 13TH DVD starring Jared Padalecki will be released on June 16th.

SUPERNATURAL SEASON 6?Despite Kripke's statement that he had no intention of going past season 5 I've learned that Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki are contractually obligated to do season six should the CW decide to continue with or without Kripke. In some interviews I've heard that both Jensen and Jared are ready to move on but later I've read that Jensen stated that a lot of those comments were taken out of context and that doing a season 6 would depend on the ratings. Kripke has also stated that he would have to see how season 5 went before deciding on a season 6.

Dean sings Can't Fight This Feeling Anymore

Listen to Jared Padalecki in this early interview. This is the strongest Texan accent I've heard on him.
